About NOCIP
A label that shows where the data goes
NOCIP is an initiative of be next GmbH for AI that keeps personal data in-house.
Why NOCIP exists
Almost every product is getting AI functions. Whether documents go to a cloud service in the process is rarely stated on the box, and vendors' statements are hard to compare. NOCIP makes it visible: with three tiers that answer a single question, and with a technical audit instead of a self-declaration.
Who is behind it
NOCIP is run by be next GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany. Since 2020 be next has developed software for law firms, including beA.expert, and LexITanon, software that pseudonymises court decisions and legal briefs locally.
How we deal with our own interests
Because be next itself offers software in this market, NOCIP follows fixed rules:
- The criteria catalogue and the audit checklist are public. Every audit follows the checklist.
- be next audits its own products against the same checklist and publishes the full audit report.
- The catalogue is versioned. Changes are explained, and every label names the version it was audited against.
- The audit and the label are free of charge. Nobody can pay for a better result.
Not a state seal
NOCIP is a private label. It is not an official certification or an accreditation, and it does not replace an assessment under data protection law.
Have your say
The criteria catalogue is a draft. Comments from vendors, users, data protection experts and professional bodies are welcome, preferably through the contact form.
